it takes a village.

I often describe grief as a hungry ghost so it’s not surprising that I settled upon grief + co. for my grief support work.

Grief longs to be paired with things.

Grief and…loss.
Grief and…love.
Grief and…grace.

And grief craves company, much like the old adage about misery that we all know so well.

To really walk with grief, we need a cohort. A community of courageous souls. Hence the + sign aka “and.” Hence the “co.” 

We need witnesses to help us make sense of our losses – be those dreams, shifting identities, friendships, jobs, traumatic events, life transitions, or the deaths of our people and pets. 

grief + co. is my humble offering for this collective hunger. I’m on a mission to bring grief out from the solitary confinements where our grief-phobic culture has taught us to hide it. Sucking it up, stuffing our feelings away, and pushing on with life, no matter the inner hell and high waters ~ these are not great long-term strategies. As grief expert David Kessler says: “What we run from pursues us. What we choose to face transforms us.”

Together, we can choose the road less traveled with grief.
